Bidrage med feedbackIf you are heading to TV5 or Pioneer in Mandalauyong, be sure to visit the Pioneer Street Market. An indoor farmers market food hall where they showcase different type of cuisine. For me, a must try is their Shepherd's Pie. The serving was good.
We ordered the: 1. Crispy Chicken Cheese Melt. Rating it 4 points. The chicken was tender. The sauce was nice. 2. Hickory BBQ Pork Steak. Rating it 2 points because the pork was tough. It was hard to eat. But the taste is good. 3. Country Fried Pork with Mushroom Gravy. Rating it 2 points because again, the pork was tough. But the mushroom gravy taste good.
A lot of these food clusters have emerged in the last 3 yrs re shaping the landscape of the metro foodscene. This hype has enabled affluent new entrepreneurs to provide wider choices establish hip, fab concepts while optimizing their business acumen. Soul Potato is a testament to this revolution. Owned managed by known couple Chef Mikee Estrada Matet de Leon (Of course we remember her from her childstar days), Soul Potato has interestingly established a solid fanbase by bringing to life self versions of comfort food. To date, I 'd say they proudly maintain arguably the best ultimate Shepherd 's pie in the metro! I tell you, they take their potatoes seriously. For P150, you get served carbo loaded heaven in a baking pan. Picture this... creamy mashed potatoes under a bed of tender juicy Australian ground beef w/ snippets of carrots peas beneath a blanket of gooey cheese a 2nd spread of creamy mashed P 's... crazy delectable! We also sampled on their Crispy chicken melt (P170) and certainly loved the approach of putting a twist to on a regular chicken parmigiana dish. Meat was tender inside despite its crunchy nature was well seasoned. The gooey chees was a perfect compliment drive home the point. The Country fried pork w/ mushroom gravy (P170) was also a hit. Pork was succulent was likewise seasoned well amplified by the peppery gravy those plump shrooms. I had my eyes on their Chicken Fajita bowl Southern chicken tenders but was too stuffed to take on more so willtackle these on my return...for sure! I liked appreciated the welcoming staff, quite knowledgeable of the food they sell w/c helped us make the right choices. Ambience was conducive to passionate foodies although some stalls may need to fix up their exhausts. Overall, it 's genuine comfort food. Good pick!
Wait Staff is courteous and kind. Ambiance of the Pioneer St. Market is Backyard, Picnic Hipster feels and this stall was no different. I ordered their Crispy Chicken Cheese Melt, which is basically chicken parmigianna, I couldn't tell because the menu didn't clearly show, It looked like fried chicken steak smothered in cheese. The battered chicken fillet was crisp, true to its word, cheese is always a favorite of mine so it was good. The red sauce though was not as flavorful as some restaurants would make. Nothing special, it looked like watered down tomato paste or ketchup. Rice had a sprinkle of pepper for garnish, which I don't get. Garnishing it with say leaves or sprigs from herbs is fine but never pepper. It was awkward. Might come back to try another dish, after all their menu is composed of mostly chicken dishes. I love chicken.
Started in 2015, Soul Potato is an International comfort food place that specializes in mashed potatoes, offering familiar flavors with their own style and twist. Chef Juno Ang and Matet De Leon, whose both husbands are chefs, are good friends and loved the idea of different potato dishes as well as serving different cuisines in one place. They then decided to put up Soul Potato here in Pioneer St Market to explore dishes that would appeal to all markets. The dream was to offer proper culinary cooked food, delicious with big servings and of course, an affordable price range. Tried the following dishes: -Shepherd's Pie. Mashed potatoes, tomato, corn, ground beef, garlic. It's mashed potato with a great twist. The combination of the beef and potatoes is very sating. -Southern Chicken Tenders. Tender chicken. Tastes like usual chicken breast.
