Cava Mezze - Olney

Cava Mezze in Olney has reliably good food, used to have reliably good service. We have been going there since it opened, and used to recognize servers who had been there a while. Lately, the service has fallen off. Whether it 's the labor difficulties that have affected the entire industry, or if management simply has let training suffer, service is not what it used to be. Specifics include long waits for basics like drinks and coffee, having to prompt the server/runner for things like table biscuits, drink refills (not the ready-when-it 's-ready small plates, I get that , being presented with the check before we were finished ordering, server delivering the wrong ala carte drink, and acknowledging being unfamiliar with the item. (The latter is definitely a training issue. We are long-standing customers, this is our go-to neighborhood restaurant, so a few service glitches aren 't going to keep us from returning. But had it been our introduction to this restaurant, we probably wouldn 't be returning. Probably off-topic, but is the happy hour menu limited to the bar area? If you arrive at 6 PM for happy hour (that runs to 6:30 and the bar is full, are you limited to the full-price menu in the main restaurant area? If that 's the case, the happy hour conditions should be prominently noted on the board outside the restaurant advertising happy hour. If our server was misinformed about happy hour, see above re server training issues.

Had an amazing brunch with my eldest son. Our server was so nice and personable. Dhe was very attentive and addressed my dropped egg. We all had a laugh. Great tasting dishes and her recommendations were on point! The spanokopita was delicate, yet crispy, and seasoned perfectly. The lamb benedict was savory and filling; the brussel sprouts...perfect and the banana fritters were sweet yet light. My son's gyro and egg he said was worth coming back for. We will see you again. My partner and I enjoyed eating at Cava Mezze. The menu was awesome and it's got a pretty good interior/energy. I will say they are usually SLAMMED the times I've gone, so a reservation is key. Perhaps a little pricy for portions, though this is the downside of tapas/mezze style food. Easy to leave hungry unless you spend and spend.

One of the best places to eat in Olney that offers fresh quality food.
