Quinta Dos Poetas - Olhão

The restaurant at Quinta dos Poetas is like a time capsule to the 70s, and not in a good way. The decor is basic and extremely dated. The menu seems appealing, lots of seafood which I presume is fresh due to the area. I ordered the spaghetti which looked amazing on the plate however I was surprised when I started to eat and it was absolutely tasteless. It really did taste like spaghetti bathed in oil, couldn’t even detect seasoning. Staff were very friendly and helpful though and I’m sure given a revamp it could be something special.

We spent four nights there on our recent Portugal roadtrip and loved every minute of our stay. Originally we have booked three nights, but have decided to stay one more. The staff is very helpful, rooms are spacious, breakfast is very good, pool is big enough for a good swim or to just cool down on a hot days. There is a small 3-hole golf course and a pond with turtles that are fun to watch. At night frogs will sing you to sleep. We had a car so this was our perfectly situated base for a research of Algarve region. Nearby towns Olhao and Faro and a little further is Tavira. If we ever come back to Algarve, we will stay again at Quinta dos Poetas.

This Hotel is absolutely marvellous. We stayed in March 2018. We had an apartment in the grounds of the hotel that had a fully equipped kitchenette, large sitting room looking over the landscaped garden and pond, lovely bathroom and good size bedroom. There is a restaurant in the Hotel serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. the Hotel itself is slightly out of Olhao so you do need a car, but it is well worth it.

Since we were staying in the hotel, we had dinner one night. Took the three course menu deal for 17 euros. It was good, nothing to die for. Contrasting many other restaurants in Portugal, this one does serve royal portions of vegetables with the fish or meat main course! The dining room is a bit dull.

Special evening meal out with husband, enjoyed all three courses, staff very attentive, lovely location.
