Bidrage med feedbackFor those who love and appreciate authentic French culinary creations, this cafe is a true gem in Old Saybrook and all of CT! It sits peacefully near the end of Main Street and is beautifully adorned with tagine cookware, ramekins, carafes, Cafe Du Monde's beignet mix, coffee, tea, other table top goods, and an inviting collection of books. My boyfriend and I visited on a Sunday morning, and were impressed with the offering of Brunch Wednesdays through Sundays, so we'll definitely keep Cocotte in mind for quality breakfast mid-late weekdays--a rarity in CT. There's seating outside, but we dined indoors to take advantage of the hot menu items. We started out with delicious and flaky plain and chocolate croissants paired with fresh squeezed orange juice (sans pulp) and the bright and smooth Chicory French Press coffee from NOLA's Cafe Du Monde. Our main course consisted of Pain Perdu with a touch of orangey citrus notes and quality maple syrup, Scrambled Eggs en Cocotte made to perfection with a pillowy soft but solid soufflé like consistency, a slice of buttered French baguette toast, and a side of hardwood smoked bacon (will have to come back to try the maple syrup version). We were so stuffed, we forgot the coffee cake we ordered, so that's also on the list for our next visit. Looking forward to trying more of the baked goods for the upcoming holidays!
I would highly suggest this place to anyone! They were amazing to talk to and the food did NOT disappoint. My favorite breakfast so far is the quiche! It's soooo amazing. However I am not sure who labels the but I probably would label it instead of 2.
Charming. Charming. Charming. My husband and I went for lunch. It was a delight both in terms of the food and the warm hospitality of our server and Jeffrey, the owner. Delicious Bacon Cocotte. Rich and beautifully done with a long buttered warm slice of baguette and lyonaise potatoes perfectly spiced and crisp. The three-egg mushroom omelet a delight. Should have had the special soup, Baked Onion, but knew I should wait! Will be back for it. Wonderful addition to Old Saybrook! Bravo!
Came in for brunch about 90 minutes before closing. It appeared that two tables were empty but needed to be cleared. We were told that they were very busy and no tables were available. When asked the duration of the wait we were told it could be a while as they were busy. We decided to get a couple items from the bakery. We were next in line to be served when the parties left the dining room and were served ahead of us, including bakery selection. We purchased 3 croissants and left.I am not sure what was amiss, but there were four empty tables when we left. I guess they do not really want bunch customers on Sunday.Parking: Small lot with about 12 spaces.
Brilliant little breakfast spot. The food is incredible and the service was excellent.
