Bidrage med feedbackThe restaurant isn't particularly visually appealing, and parking can be tricky on the busy stretch of Oaklands Road. Inside, I'd describe it as cozy, which is a generous way to put it. We ordered our usual favorites: butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, samosas, pakoras, naans, rice, and a mixed grill featuring fish, prawns, and kebabs. The total was just over $60. I was informed it would take "20 minutes." I even had time to drive to the supermarket on Marion Road, find parking, do some shopping, return to the restaurant, and still wait another twenty minutes for my order to be ready. Based on my experience, and what others have mentioned, it seems that the wait times they provide might be more of an optimistic estimate than an actual timeline. The food was good—not great, but still enjoyable. There were plenty of flavors, and the curries were rich and thick. However, there were a few issues. The naans were packaged in a sealed paper bag, which left them limp and soggy by the time we got home. The mixed grill included fish tikka that was surprisingly still raw in the center. In fact, the mixed grill was so heavily coated in bright red curry paste that it overshadowed the other flavors. One particularly odd experience was when I tried to order some papadams and was told, "No need to! We'll include complimentary papadams." I thought this was very generous. However, when I got home, I found a plastic bag with just two papadams inside, which felt like a rather minimal gesture. Here’s the thing: just a few minutes away from our home is the fantastic Hub Tandoori Nepalese restaurant. Would I drive past the Hub to get to Delhi Spice? No, I wouldn’t. And that sums it up.
This Indian restaurant may not have the most glamorous appearance, but it offers a fantastic selection of delicious curries and naans at an affordable price. It's usually quite busy since it's a popular takeaway spot, but the service is quite decent. My favorite dish here is the chicken palak!
Delicious curry, reasonable prices, and friendly service make this my go-to spot for takeout. It's always bustling, but they manage to prepare orders quickly—often even faster than the estimated time. The open kitchen reveals a variety of pots and pans simmering, and there's a traditional clay tandoor ready for kebabs and bread. In my opinion, the meat curries surpass the vegetarian options, with the lamb rogan josh being the standout dish I've tried so far. Although the exterior may appear a bit outdated, don't let that deter you—this restaurant is a must-visit for curry enthusiasts.
Service is great. Food is amazing. Have been a few times before. Took Mum this time who was visiting from QLD who can be quite picky. Mum loved it.<br/
Don't listen to the pish posh poo pooing by others about this place. Most things get better with age. When this place opened 6/7 years ago it was renowned to go over the 30 40min wait recommended for pick up, but seemed to worth it because we were super satisfied with huge tick of approval. But in the last couple of years they picked up their game and you will have your order ready pronto when in the time recommended. I hate take away, but the one restaurant I do order from when I do, is Dehli Spice <br/ <br/ Flavour wise, if you're looking for a quintessential Ra on the Taj or Jasmin standard, you are looking in the wrong place. This business caters for all us plebeians it's got rich flavour, and each dish goes a long way. Some dishes are watery (dahl some aren't (meat curries , but duh that's the dish, and who tf cares when it's so satisfying and at a great price? If you want super heat in your hot curries and not getting it, get them to add extra chilli (I add chilli to everything so no curry house can please me or my husband there sorry dudes! .<br/ Have tried other Indian restaurants that have popped up in the area and just gave up based on over salty, over oily, over gristley, or not enough flavour. This business is my only family go to favourite
