Powderhorn Chateau - Ohakune

The food was good. Staff was amazing and super helpful, pool was warm on a cold day out side. Close to the mountain. Thank you we will be back for some more mountain fun. Service: 5

The small but nice hotel is located on the outskirts of Ohakune. There are no restaurants nearby, in the hotel there are separate rooms for the restaurant/bar and breakfast. Very small cupboard (only set up for short visits). Moderately large wood-paneled rooms, shower, bathtub, air conditioning and 2 sinks available. For such a beautiful and classy place, it's unfortunate that the customer service has dropped in regards to the bar area. The beer wasn't even poured to the top, tide very out.... When I diplomatically and kindly asked the guy behind the bar to please pour the beer to the top I did not get a good reception back. Spending $40 per round of drinks, quite a few rounds were brought and food also. Just would expect a little bit of politeness. I've always had a good experience here, it's unfortunate that I went away a little disappointed.

The place is in a beautiful location, wake up to the snowy mountains. Rooms are tidy and the staff are helpful. Love to be back. Not to forget, the restaurant food is really good with cozy atmosphere. I will definitely recommend the stirfry and their home made pizzas. Restaurant has ample space to accommodate large groups and varied options to sit and enjoy the fire place. Kids can enjoy the place too. Rooms: 5
