Bidrage med feedbackThis charming little restaurant is nestled in the corner of Union Station. The orange chicken was excellent, while the fried rice was just average. The service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was incredibly inviting.
We visited for the lunch special and had a wonderful experience. The service was fantastic—quick and efficient. The prices were very reasonable, and the restaurant was clean. We ordered the Chicken and Broccoli, Sweet and Sour Pork, and Egg Drop Soup, all of which were delicious.
This was our first visit to Maple Gardens since they opened at Union Station, and overall, we had a good experience. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was delightful. We arrived for dinner at 5:30 on a Monday and found only a few other tables occupied. The hostess was very friendly and attentive, but our interaction with the manager was less than ideal. She took our order and brought us our food, but she made us feel as though we were imposing by being there, as if we were on borrowed time. When we asked questions about the menu due to dietary restrictions, she seemed impatient. She explained that she was in a rush because she needed to memorize our order, implying that writing it down would have been too much trouble. We felt as though our inquiries were complicating things for her, especially since one member of our party ordered out of turn. If you're simply looking to enjoy a meal, this place might work for you. However, we decided that in the future, we'll opt for Maple Gardens Express on 12th Street, where we can enjoy the same delicious food in an environment where we won’t expect much from the level of customer service.
I visited for the first time today and had a great experience. The hot and sour soup was delicious and the orange chicken was excellent. The atmosphere was calm and enjoyable. The portion sizes were generous for the price, and the service was comparable to other restaurants in the area.
I'm not sure who assigns the ratings for restaurants in Utah, but this is yet another highly rated place we tried during our trip that turned out to be disappointing. Don't be misled by the inflated ratings! This restaurant does not deserve four stars. The fried food had a strange taste, almost like the oil was old. My dish came with an unappetizing gelatinous sauce, and the rice had an odd flavor as well. My husband remarked that his food tasted like it had been previously frozen. While the restaurant itself was clean and our waitress was fantastic—she was literally running around to serve everyone—the food was a definite letdown. There were plenty of other customers, so perhaps the food doesn’t bother them as much as it did us?
