Bidrage med feedbackI dined at this restaurant last night, and authorized a charge for $86 (inclusive tips). When I looked on my bank account this morning, they took out TWO amounts, one for $104.60 and one for $164.60. Neither one of course was authorized. I am not sure if the waiters cannot be trusted, or what the deal was, but needless to say I will not be dining there again. Edit Delete.
It’s been a while since I have eaten at the Bistro 258. There was a little wait because they were full, but they got me seated as soon as possible. The server pointed out their brand new menu for spring and mentioned they would be redoing it every season! I had a very difficult time deciding what to order since everything on the menu sounded so good. The server was able to answer all my questions regarding the changes and my experience was the best I have had there. I ordered the lamb and it was Fantastic! As a frequent diner I often travel to SLC for a wonderful meal. I am so glad that Ogden finally has a restaurant that competes with SLC and if I lived there I would make the drive.
Saying me and my husband loved the food would be an understatement and the presentation was beautiful. I tried the coconut macadamia halibut, which I highly recommend. The yummiest fish I've ever had. Our food took a little longer to come out than one might expect and the waiter offered us free cheesecake due to our wait. We didn't mind the wait or the cheesecake which was scrumptious. The atmosphere was also nice and I thought the waiter was great.
Don't be discouraged by the uncommon, untruthful, and untrustworthy response. I was visiting Ogden for business and looking for a place to spend a evening and have dinner after a hard day of meetings and paperwork. After looking online for someplace to eat I asked the concierge at the front desk and he highly recommended the Bistro 258 across the parking lot. I was a little worried after reading this review, but I figured the public knows best. I had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The atmosphere was exactly what they said “Casual Elegance” and as a table of one I felt no awkwardness like most restaurants you go too. I felt welcomed and at home and was able to enjoy the amazing menu that covers everything from salads to steaks. They had local beers on tap along with a wonderful liquor and wine list. My dinner was absolutely to die for! I took the recommendation from my server to have the New York steak with a balsamic reduction and gorgonzola cheese. It was cooked to perfection and left me room for their famous Fuzzy Peaches. I had the pleasure to meet the owner who shared his time with me as we had a delightful conversation about the history of the building and the area. It was great to actually have a conversation instead of being talked at. In my mind this was a wonderful place that I will always look forward to going when ever I am close to Ogden. It has made my visits here more frequent. Thank you to the staff for giving such amazing service to the people and visitors of Ogden!
It is sad that such a beautiful atmosphere is ruined by a complete lack of ability in running a dining establishment. The food is over priced and just not very good. Everything is over done. Too much seasoning, too much sauce, too much everything except service. After becoming flustered and asking if the owner had any clue the people at the next table told me that the owner had basically given up and was working someplace else now. Gordon Ramsey could not fix this Kitchen Nightmare.
