Highly recommend: restaurant not closed as claimed here. Great food (fresh fish and delicious meat dishes) in a casual environment (alfresco option). Very friendly service, attentive, fast. Chef was very reassuring and understanding of food allergies. Definitely a favourite in Algés, Lisbon.
Located in Algés near the train station on a pedestrian street, this is a budget restaurant where we can have fresh fish at an affordable price. They have both fish and meat dishes, but I will review their fish, which is cooked (grilled on a charcoal fire. There are several options between 7.50 and 12€ and one can have a delicious sea bass grilled (for two people for 22.50€ . One advantage of this restaurant is that the price (even of the fish is not priced per kilogram. They have the most common and cheap fishes everyday (like salmon, Nile Perch, sea bream, mackerel and others which depends on what they can get on the daily market. Occasionally they also have grouper, sole fish, snapper, and pomfret. Bacalhau à Lagareiro which is cod cooked in olive oil with pieces of garlic and served with new potatoes is also available for 9€ (see picture . The grilled fish normally comes with some potatoes and vegetables, but the staff is opened to change it to another side dish that is available (or just salad, or french fries, rice, etc.. We normally select our fish at the entrance, where there is a counter and we chose from the fish on display. The menu with prices is on display outside, so, no big surprises with the final bill. Their wine list has reasonable prices compared to other restaurants. As deserts they have some house pudding that is good, chocolate mousse and rice pudding. Always ask for what is fresh or what they recommend. They also have meat dishes, including the very good churrasco chicken and they do take away. The meal comes to a total of less than 20€ for 2 (if we just go for the regular dishes, with water and/or beer, no deserts or around 30€ if we chose the big sea bass for 2, wine and a desert.
