Golden Bbq House - O'CONNOR

We had a wonderful experience with a lovely lady who served us. She was happy to accommodate my daughter's dietary preferences. The food was served quickly and was quite nice.

This restaurant has a modern vibe and offers a unique take on yum cha. I was surprised to learn that we had to order from the menu, but I found it to be a great concept since the dishes are freshly prepared rather than sitting around for a long time. Each serving was freshly made. However, I found the squid tentacles to be a bit on the small side. The chicken feet seemed to be either steamed or overcooked; they were a bit too soft and almost soggy, and the meat didn’t quite fall off the bone. That said, I'll admit I'm one of those people who find chicken feet intimidating due to their appearance and texture, so I only took a small bite. The 30% off discount is very tempting, but we dined at full price, which resulted in a bill of $128 for six people—I think that's pretty average. Personally, I still prefer going to Northbridge, but if you're looking for a quieter atmosphere, Golden BBQ is definitely a solid option.

I hadn't had Chinese food in a while, so when I saw a 30% discount special for this restaurant, I decided to try their take-out. I ordered vegetable spring rolls, honey chicken, sweet and sour pork, and chicken fried rice, which came to just over $33 and included complimentary deep-fried prawn crackers. I was informed that my phone order would be ready in 10 minutes, so I made sure to arrive on time. The restaurant turned out to be nice and fairly modern—I’ll definitely need to dine in sometime. The waitress was friendly, and my order was just coming out of the kitchen when I arrived. Impressive service! My meal was still very warm, and the flavors were great. I’ll be adding this place to my list of local favorites to revisit.

I enjoyed the dim sum menu today and always make sure to include the fried squid tentacles. However, today the batter was thick and crispy instead of light and crispy, and the filling inside was rather mushy. I hope it wasn't overcooked. Otherwise, it was fine.

The food is great and the service is excellent. It's always bustling with activity, both for dining in and gift service. I enjoyed a dinner meal here, and the price per person ranges from $20 to $40.
