Bidrage med feedbackWe went for hard crabs and to sit outside and eat crabs. We got a dozen Jumbo crabs for $156 and were very excited. We enjoyed hush puppies right away that were delicious. We ordered french fries to munch on while the crabs cooked but the crabs and the French fries came at the same time. Obviously we got warmed over crabs because they were not moist. 2 of the crabs were mushy and we couldn’t eat them. What they call jumbo we’re not jumbo to my standards. Very disappointed. We did not complain. When we get a bad meal we just don’t return.
Was in the area of Higgins Crab House and decided to pick up some of their Cream of Crab soup and steamed shrimp. It was absolutely some of the worst soup I have ever had. Full of flour, over salted and no crab, it was like badly made gravy, threw it out. Shrimp was over salted and the flavor was lost. Last time we eat there. Maybe the steamed crabs are the only item worth ordering now.
Good food for the value. Not fine dining -families. It's a crab and seafood place. Got the snow crab special-1lb, 2 sides for 39.99. Also had 1/2 dozen oysters. Thought food good for what we paid.
Our party of three arrived just before the dinner rush on a Thursday and we were seated right away. Our waiter was very welcoming and pleasant to interact with. He even offered to take our picture when he saw me trying to set us up for a group photo. He brought us their complimentary Hush Puppies when he greeted us. They were fresh and hot. We ordered a dozen Oysters on the half shell for our appetizer. Some of them were huge! I'd say double the normal size. They disappeared quickly. Yum! We ordered two Alaskan Snow Crab legs specials and mozzarella sticks. Absolutely delicious. The snow crab's meat was so sweet and mouth-watering. They provide plenty of paper towels, shell crackers, and a sharp knife to get at that meat. Love coming here every year!
Sorry no photos for this review but wanted to write a review for Higgins as this is the second time we have been here while vacationing in the area and both times have been a good experience! This time, we stopped for a later dinner and sat outside at the picnic tables so our youngest could use their playground which he loves. I got the Crabcake dinner with salad and baked potato. I really like their crab cakes- they seem to cook them slightly different than other places in the area, like they are pan fried with butter possibly- anyways it gives a wonderful crust which makes them sooo good! My husband got their spicy broiled shrimp which was HUGE by the way and he couldn 't finish. The shrimp were very fresh, cooked perfectly, and seasoned so well.Higgins has a pretty big kids menu too which is always helpful. My kids have opted both times for the pizza and say they like it. Kids meals also all come with fries and applesauce. Now I would be remiss if I didn 't talk about the service- both times our waitresses were so lovely- super friendly, sweet, efficient and accommodating. My oldest son said this time she is the nicest waitress .... For an 11yo to notice this says a lot.We have really enjoyed Higgins both summers we have come now and it will definitely stay in our dinner or lunch rotations while down here. The food and service are great!Next time I will take photos to share.
