Bidrage med feedbackWe had wonderful coffee drinks and snacks. The waiter was charming. The seats were in an enchanted terrace.
Antique is that rarely stylish, reasonable, absolutely charming little local place run and by people who love what they do. The daily menu del día varies from pleasant to truly excellent. The simple food shows imagination and fresh ingredients. The service is never less...as attentive and eager to please. Everyone speaks slowly and clearly so that guests with limited Spanish have a chance not to feel like idiots when they ask questions. The complex is a tiny, shady garden with interesting artifacts on the stone and brick walls. It is absolutely quiet, cool and green, and a good place to simply relax and hear the leaves rustic. The central ponchote tree is remarkable. Even to get to Antique is a little adventure. You pass the beautiful wall paintings in the Colonia of Xochimilco, a pedestrian zone passes past former web workshops, followed by a narrow shaded passage to the entrance. The raised ancestral divides an outer wall, so if you can find Ancestral, you can find Antique. Another remarkable observation: antiques play a variety of interesting music, including classic, all in a pleasant volume. Last time we heard Medieval music. What a pleasure to hear in this relaxing, welcoming and green environment! It is a small place, so best to arrive shortly before 2:00 to get one of the few tables out for lunch. Antique also serves breakfast and excellent coffee and desserts.
Hidden in, literally, from the old Cobblestone Calle, while admire the remains of the aqueduct, the Oaxaca in the past. In the midst of the picturesque and inconceivable casitas that hide behind their bright colored façades, the Antique Cafe prevents a tired traveler with his statue... from DAVID in the door...Why, am I in ROME?!? The tables are small, the staff is attentive, the food is fresh and perfectly prepared. For 65 pesos we were fed from the menu del dia. Then we ordered coffee drinks, a perfectly foamed caappucino (hard, sometimes, everywhere) and a fuerte Americano. Cook freshly baked pastries to remind us that such perfect experiences DO exist! You can smell the meal that is cooked in the tiny cocaine as you wait, say hello to the cook on the way to the tiny bano. The owners have taken an idea and turned it into a dream. Esau Gonzales Carpio waited for us and then happy for a photo. As the owner of a café, I understand what it takes to lift it off. If something looks so simple, someone works VERY HARD! Go before it's hard to sit down.
This is a tiny and rather charming place just one block or so from the Xochimilco church. There is a large white statue of David in the door and several small tables in a front area and a small rear space. Service is friendly, the decoration is stylish, and the food is useful if not skin cuisine. The 60 Peso menu del dia sells fast, but there are secondary options for the plato fuerte. It just feels good to be there. It is definitely from the tourist trail and more in a real neighborhood, in a cafe run by owners who care what they do.
