August 8 - Oakville

My friends and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch here this week. They have great variety and many dim sum items which are not found at other all-you-can-eat Asian restaurants. I particularly enjoyed the eggplant stuffed with minced shrimp, and the beef mushroom rolls. Save room for ice cream. The mango and green tea ice creams are both excellent!I was disappointed that they did not include sashimi in the lunch menu, and the hot and sour soup was rather bland.

The food is very good, however the service is terrible! I ordered on time and I didn't receive what I ordered but the manager justified saying that the cuisine forgot to prepare my order and they were already closed. My surprise was the "Bill", they charged me full price and asked me to leave fast in order to close at 10:00 pm sharply. It was a very uncomfortable experience.

This is a Mandarin with a twist. The twist is, that it's more expensive. Sushi is joke as you get a potato peel size of fish on top of a rice scoop. It is clean and the interior is pleasant but if you ever tasted real sushi and you know what it's supposed to be, don't try this one. You will waste your money on leave disappointed. And to add insult to injury, the force 15 % tip onto your bill. How about that.....

We had been going to our old spot by habit in spite of the quality falling and maintenance not being kept up with. The sushi at Aug 8 was a much better quality including ebi and maguro sushi. Our waitress Eszter was patient and attentive. We also liked the decor.The bonus was they have senior pricing.

Food was ok but not great quality. Fun for kids to order with an iPad and eat whatever they want. Service, or complete lack thereof was absolutely horrible with servers and hostess barely acknowledging your presence when it felt like they just dump the food on your table and walk away before you can ever ask for anything else. They have a horrible policy that if you have anything you haven't eaten that you've ordered they will actually charge you extra for it. It is all you can eat so I can understand if you order a ton of food an abuse the system, but we were just full and left about 4 sushi rolls that they wanted to charge us extra for. I would only go back because my young daughter loves it, but otherwise would NOT recommend this to anyone.
