Bidrage med feedbackFood is delicious You seriously can order any item and be happy with every bite. Portions are decently sized so you walk away with a full tummy. Falafels are a good choice to start with. My favorite is definitely the chicken tagine. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Its matched with equally tasting cous cous. the small dishes are a great addition to your meal to share with another
I came here with a large group of friends and they were able to snag a table for all 8 of us, score! Now parking in this area was difficult as it's mainly street and side street parking so it took us forever to park especially on a Sunday for lunch. When you first arrive, you get in line to order, then they give you a number, then you snag a table and wait for them to bring you your food. We ended up ordering: Cauliflower with saffron rice plate $11: loved the seasoning of the cauliflower and it was cooked really well, but sadly the combination with the rice was slightly too dry. We ended up having to order, yogurt on the side to moisten up the dish. Lamb shislik over saffron rice $15: again great seasoning and flavor of the lamb, but I just wish their rice was more moist. With the yogurt mixed in it was a better dish. Overall, I think this place has potential and offers something a little different for the area.
I keep wanting to wave Buh bye, but the name is actually a derivation of a Hebrew word, babait, which means at home which I presume means they offer home style cooking from their kitchen. I got interested in coming here because my long time hair cutting guy on Piedmont Avenue recommended it knowing I was interested in any healthy options nearby after our appointments. I walked over to the other end of Piedmont and found a brightly colored space where I found a pretty robust Middle Eastern menu up above. I thought they served only salads, but there 's also mezze plates, hummus, rice plates, and even tajines. I went for one of their composed entree salads, the $10 Roasted Beet, Romaine and Sheep 's Milk Feta Cheese Salad, which turned out to be quite a hearty bowlful of goodness with yams, walnuts, Ras el hanout (an African spice mix similar to garam masala , and cilantro, all of it tossed with a red wine vinaigrette (photo: [hidden link] . It was nicely composed with very fresh ingredients just the way chef and owner Mica Talmor envisioned it. I 'll come back and try more of her specialties. FOOD 4 stars...very fresh takes on Middle East specialties AMBIANCE 3.5 stars...bright colors and patterns abound in the space SERVICE 3 stars...a bit on the withdrawn side with little guidance provided on the menu selections TOTAL 4 stars...a welcome veggie option on Piedmont Avenue
SO GOOD. I came here yesterday for lunch with my mom and sister after stumbling across it on Yelp and seeing all the great reviews and delicious looking pictures. Parking: On the street. Service: You order at the counter and then take your number to an open table. I'm surprised this place wasn't busier for lunch time but maybe that's because it was a Sunday afternoon. Food comes out pretty quickly! Food: We ordered the Butternut Squash, Quinoa, Cranberry Arugula Salad with added Falafel (4 pieces) to make it an entree, the Chicken Lavash, and the Baba Ganoush (comes with white or whole wheat pita). Butternut Squash Salad: Amazing! Arugula tossed with quinoa, cranberries, and butternut squash in a vinaigrette. I asked for the manchego cheese on the side. The falafels were nice and crispy and had tahini drizzled on top of them. Highly recommend this salad. Chicken Lavash: I didn't try this but my mom and sister really enjoyed it (the split it) and said half was very filling. Baba Ganoush: Very creamy and yummy. The whole wheat pita was fresh and pillowy. I enjoyed it! I would definitely come back to try some of their other dishes. This place is great to vegetarians and vegans since the dishes that do contain meat or animal products can be taken out! Check this place out if you are looking for some bomb Mediterranean food in North Oakland!
My only complaint about Ba-Bite is that it isn't close to where I live. I've been here twice and both times I absolutely loved their pita bread, hummus and salads. It's the kind of meal that leaves you feeling satisfied but not overly full. This is definitely a great spot to catch a quick lunch by yourself or with a group. There's a good amount of seating but lines do form during lunch hour. Pros: Delicious food Cons: Gets busy at lunch Bottom line: Healthy lunch food on Piedmont Ave
