This food is incredible! I’ve lived in Oakland my entire life, and this is the best restaurant we’ve had in ages! My mom and I always enjoy dining here for special occasions, and the staff is always so friendly!

Really tasty bar food with lots of options. Full bar, beer on tap or by the bottle. Big screens with current sports. Friendly service. Also video poker machines if that's your thing. Open on a Saturday while the other restaurants in town were closed.Recommend trying if visiting Oakland, Or.

While we were eating, we noticed two young girls in aprons who stepped outside for a smoke break. We appreciated their efforts if they were the cooks, but their lack of experience made an impact on our overall impression. I’m not sure if I would return. The place was cute, and we sat up front, so we didn't get a chance to see the back area. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a children's menu, although the service was friendly and the staff member was quite informative.

I just had a terrible experience with both the prime rib and the service at this restaurant. I paid with a business check and left a generous tip, but was treated like a criminal. I was told to wait while they consulted the owner, but I don’t take orders from young staff members. I offered my ID and decided to leave. As I was assisting my elderly parents to the car, three staff members followed us outside, shouting remarks. I confronted them and told them they had just lost a customer for good. The younger girls and a tattooed male continued to argue, which I found unacceptable. I expect better service than this; I will not be disrespected by staff who seem inexperienced. This place used to be great, but now, in my opinion, the prime rib is subpar, the drinks are bad, and the staff is completely unprofessional. I will NEVER eat or drink at Lamplighter Cafe in Oakland again. This was the worst prime rib and the worst service I have ever encountered.
