Bidrage med feedbackSome of the best Indian food in this part of Oakland! The portions are decent, flavor amazing, and they don’t play around with spice levels! Don’t ask for Indian hot if you can’t handle it! The okra dish is delicious and every time I order lamb and I’m never disappointed. They have chai available free of charge in the dining room too, goes well with the spicy dishes. The naan is also in good portions and not skimped on. Sometimes the restaurant can be super crowded, so try to visit on slower times or order takeout.
This is our neighborhood place. Great food. Good service almost all the time. I saw the review about the rude guy. I think I have met him. That us an outlier. I've been a client for 20 years and the service was always great and usually female. When the pandemic is over, this is a great spot for an early or late lunch.
I'm a professional chef. The service was professional and patient. One server and three cooks handled an increasingly busy dinner service. To have a full dining room and not rush the diners takes patience and professionalism. The food was made to order. I watched it with my own two eyes. Vegetables weren't overcooked, curries were delicately balanced, and the fish was juicy. My guest lived and cooked in India for years, raised a family on Indian food, and after eating seven dishes from Raj's even she was satisfied. The atmosphere was intimate. I could hear the conversations of the other happy diners mixing with the sounds and smells from the three man kitchen. I wish their large menu was larger. That would give me more reasons to return.
If, like us, your favorite indian food place closed, try this place. We called the restaurant and picked up our order about 20 minutes later. The food was not quite ready, so we waited about 5 minutes. Warning, look for the Kerry House awning- the place is under it. We are about 10 minutes door to door. Our food was so hot we had to be careful dishing it out. We enjoyed chicken tikka masala, tandoori grill, lamb curry, and dal makhani. Since it was our first time ordering, we got everything medium. It was hot enough to complement the spiciness and leave some burn in your mouth, very enjoyable. We also had veggie pakora and veggie samosa. We ordered plain naan and garlic naan. The last of the naan was used to mop up the curry and masala sauces. I even got some papadum. We paid $83 for all that Indian food wonderfulness. We will definitely be back.
I love this bar. Dope vibe nice people and strong drinks. What more can you ask for?
