Bidrage med feedbackSarah Brown's is worth the wait!! The food is absolutely amazing and the customer service is phenomenal!! I love the new location. It provides a nice intimate setting!! There are so few Black owned restaurants and Sarah Brown's is the only one on MV. It is on my list of my go to places when I come to the island!!
Loved everything about Sarah Brown's!! A Black-owned restaurant on MV that is well worth the wait! If you've waited in line at the infamousLinda Jeans for breakfast..don't hesitate to wait for an amazing meal and fun experience at Sarah Brown's!! Owner is very personable and makes sure all patrons are enjoying their experience! Soul food that comforts the Soul! Thank you so much Sarah Brown's! Can't wait to come back next year!!!
Many concerns. We ate here last summer when she was in Linda Jeans and had a good dining experience. They have moved across from Tony's on Dukes County Rd. Take out only. We went on Sunday evening. Lots of chaos and confusion... Wrong orders, mediocre food. We waited over an hour for food. A few men got tired of waiting and walked off. They had run out of potato salad and at the end, corn bread. Disappointing to say the least.
I was excited to try the new takeout location since it 's away from the parking challenges in 'downtown ' Oak Bluffs. The food, for the most part, was very flavorful. All of the sides (Mac and cheese, collards, black eyed peas, okra, potato salad and cornbread) were excellent. The chicken and fish were not crispy but I 'm not sure if that 's because of the way they cooked it or the steam generated by being in a takeout container. The big issue is the terrible service. I ordered online twice and each time was quoted a 30 minute pickup time. The first night I arrived on time but had to wait another 30 minutes. The second evening, I expected a slight delay but ended up waiting an additional 75 minutes after my pickup time. Other customers had been waiting more than 90 minutes. The more frustrating part is that despite the delay and what appeared to be idle employees, there was no explanation or updates on our orders. While I enjoyed the food, the experience was unpleasant and a deterrent to returning. While waiting for my food last night, I kept thinking, "This restaurant needs Robert Irvine (from Restaurant Impossible) to help them manage the business better. Hopefully they will improve as we need soul food on the island.
We tried takeout at this new location. Home run! A 10 piece bucket was very delicious and affordable. The chicken was in large pieces, nice and crispy, great spice chemistry and Hot! You rarely get hot with takeout! Mac and cheese was very flavorful but a little dry! Cornbread was good and a generous portion. The onion rings were some of the best on island!!!! All in all a great meal was had and the pick up process was great! They email you when ready!!!! Can't say enough about experience, hope they stay open through the fall.
