Sam's Place - Novato

The staff is outstanding. The decor is fun. We sat outside and I forgot to look for the train that circles the dining room. Very family friendly, from the menu of American classics to the lively spaces. Our server was kind, easygoing and quick to accommodate our various requests. Everyone was happy, smiling, friendly. There appears to be quite a loyal client base. Overall, we left happy and well fed.

What started as a place for us to wait out rush-hour traffic and feed our kids (loved seeing family friendly , was a very nice evening! When I first saw the prices, I was thinking oh no, this price for deli food?! but we sat out on the patio that was a very pleasant evening. We were able to chat with Sam (owner his wife and our kids LOVED the train running around the restaurant. My husband 's Black Russian sandwich was DELICIOUS. They said they were known for Fish Chips, which I ordered, and was fine but not to rave about. Kids meals were reasonably priced for the quantity, but we enjoyed our visit and the ambiance immensely. Also, observed Sam be extremely patient with a patron (my guess is an adult perhaps on the spectrum telling him many long stories, and he stood there listening intently...a skill I don 't see often.

We love Sam's place, it's the top breakfast, lunch dinner place to go if you want it low key and old school. We especially love the friendly at home atmosphere. See you next time ; ...oh look even the food is smiling at you :

The food was good but the portions were small for the price we paid. Pancakes were pretty thin as well. Very much a older person spot during the week.

Our first time here on the way to Santa Rosa. Breakfast was delicious, great service and will definitely return when it comes.
