Safeway Deli - Novato

The Safeway located on Diablo in Novato provides the worst shopping experience I have ever encountered. Despite alleged remodels over the past 10 years, the deli department remains subpar and poorly managed. The staff lack proficiency in English, including the deli manager who seems clueless about the products they sell. Complaints have been made but hiring practices have not improved, leading to continued frustration for English-speaking customers. Last year, a particularly rude deli manager was eventually removed, only to be reassigned to a different role within the store. The lack of accountability due to trade unions exacerbates these issues. Despite multiple upgrades, the store neglects essential renovations such as updating the flooring, rendering previous improvements ineffective. Customer service is consistently lacking, with unfriendly checkers and Starbucks staff. Compared to other Safeway locations, the Diablo store appears to attract employees who are unfriendly and language-challenged.

I went to Safeway to pick up some groceries, but unfortunately, I left empty-handed. It was impossible to find the Egg Manager, and the service was so poor that I felt like I was being treated like a little dog. Instead of a simple greeting and assistance, I was quickly shown the front door. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Safeway is a welcoming establishment that typically has what you need. The staff are always friendly and ready to assist.

My Deli sandwich was awfully in demand for light Mayo and light mustard.... let's say my sandwich was a slippery mess....!!!! The lady didn't even understand English, let alone how to make a sandwich.... Bad training on Safeways part... for $ 8.99 please train properly. If I ever go back, I ask for everything in the side and just make my own sandwich

Poor service at the deli 5/23/22 Don't go to to Alice if your getting a deli sandwice made. Unfortunately she doesn't understand what she has on her own menu that's displayed publicly . At least twice in the last 2 months she's completely made my sandwich wrong . When speaking English to her she does not comprehend . It's horrific trying to place a detailed order. Try asking about the everything bread ...lol
