Bidrage med feedbackI eat only two dishes when I eat the Tom Yum Goong soup and the Salade Boeuf Tropicale. Both are brilliant and enough to be a whole meal. Get yourself a small side dish rice when you get the soup to end after you have eaten all seafood (and they are very generous). Very recommended.
Great place to take a bite to eat with really friendly staff.
Since I arrived in New Caledonia, I had no decent meal. I went to McDonald for lunch. In the USA I never try to go there. When I started my trip tonight to find dinner, I went from place to place to find them closed or close. My feet started to hurt and I wanted to go back to the hotel. I was looking for my Google Maps and found a place called open Rice. I thought it was open, why not give it a last effort. So I ran into a cab that brought a customer. I wonder if he can call me a taxi. It was 8:00 and closed at 8:30. We drove a few minutes. We came, it was full of people eating. There were no tables to sit. Then the lady saw us. I asked for a table for two. She said it was good to wait here. They rushed to clean a recently released one. We sat down and were helped by the nice lady in order. It turns out that this was the best meal I had since I arrived. The Tom-Yum soup was like homemade. Only the right ingredients from lemon grass to lime leaves and spices. It was so delicious. And the people were so nice and friendly. I watched her when they talked to other customers. You were like an old friend. I couldn't understand because they spoke French. But I could say it was friendly warm talks. It was good over 8:30 and nobody rushed to go and nobody rushed to go. I enjoyed every drop of soup and the vegetable dish. My friend ordered fish and he ended it too. When we left, I think the owner and his family were sitting at the exit.? They were very nice to ask again where we were from and how we liked it. I told my friend it was the best meal I had since I arrived, and that made him happy to hear that. I was so full I just couldn't stop eating until everything was gone. When I walked out, I saw the deserts there was a nice server man who told me a few things about them. People should be treated. I have to come back to try more food and finish it with on the delicious looking desert. Thanks Open Rice. I'll see you again. I'd give you 10 stars for everything.
Food was great! Very authentic, even though not the cheapest.
Great food, abundance amount of squid on my dish. However, as my husband is vegetarian, he has too much onions on his dish. We could only find this restaurant that sells tofu in Nouméa which gives it extra points. Good price and good service too. We will be back if/when we visit Nouméa next time :
