The Cheese Shop - Nottingham

Had a nice day in Nottingham and was keen to support some independent shops so I visited this shop even though I have a great wholesale source for artisan cheeses from the UK. They have some nice cheeses but the whole experience was overshadowed by a seriously rude staff member may have been a manager or owner) He talked to his staff in an awful manner, just not acceptable. His manner with customers was also obnoxious and bolshy. The junior staff seemed very polite and switched on, a shame that their belittling colleague puts such a stain on what could be a lovely place. Wish I’d gone into Delilah’s.

Delicious food really nice coffee too. I had the smoked salmon with cream cheese on granary bread, delicious. Recommended.

The place to go to for Cheese excellent choices and good service. Nice atmosphere. Sandwiches are well worth it

I felt extremely unwelcome in the shop. I was the only customer and two or three staff members were just looking at me from the stairs and the other was silently observing from the counter. I feel like I do know quite a bit about cheese myself but felt under scrutiny as if anything I said would have been the wrong choice. The man who served me ended up being nice enough, but the whole experience just felt stilted.

I frequently visit the Cheese Shop Nottingham and have always been greeted with a friendly hello and a smile. The coffee is wonderful, the prices reasonable and, of course, the cheeses are incredible. Rob and Webb and the team are always ready to suggest what to try based on what you like, you only have to ask. They are a small business and, like so many, have had many challenges over the last 18 months, but they have always tried to provide the best service in my experience. A great place for a visit if you are in Nottingham.
