Bidrage med feedbackA fish and chips shop right next to the station with everything you could want from a first and chip shop. I have chips, mushy peas, saveloy and fish cake for £6.30. Absolute bargain and tasted great. Lovely friendly service from the lady with the long eyelashes. A big smile and appreciate the attention. 100% recommended for food on the travel. Kebabs looked nice as well
I have been to the fish and chips shop before, and unfortunately, the fish had been left on the grill for over 25 minutes after cooking. As a result, it was not fresh and very dry, with a poor taste. I would not recommend this place.
Due to moving away from the area I haven’t visited Carrington’s for around 25 years. I used to pay a regular visit due to its proximity to the train station and the quality of food and service. I had fish chips and mushy peas and was delighted to find a bottle of help your self mint sauce available, further south I struggle to find peas let alone mint sauce! My only minor criticism would be that the fish was a little on the thin side (it was a large piece though and the batter perfect) My preference would be for a thicker fillet, others may not though, so I suppose the adage that you’re can’t please all of the people all of the time’ rings true. The chips and peas were also excellent. The business must have been running for over 30 years, long may it continue
I popped in to feed my hunger and had chips fishcake and burger. The burger was cooked especially for me. The food was very nice and walked out full.
Visited Carringtons for the first time in a long time and looked forward to my fish and chip dinner. Ordered the large haddock and chips even though I was informed that it would be a 10 minute wait ... no problem as guaranteed it would be fresh, crispy and nice and hot. Anyhow, 5 minutes later it was ready, wonderful!! I did think at the time that the fish sounded as though it was on a nice gentle simmer rather than a healthy frying bubbling sound. Gave it little thought though as I’m not an expert cook. Walked out with my fish and chips and was really disappointed for my £7.90. The fish was not crispy at all, seriously, not a single crispy bit of batter. The chips were a bit like card board too. I can only assume the chips had been sitting around for a while or the oil was not hot enough. Anyhow, as mentioned, I’m not a cook, but I know a nice fish and chips when I have one. Sadly, this was way off the mark. In spite of the lovely staff, I’m afraid I’ll not be going back :
