Had to wait a little longer until my order was finished. a lady on the line said. don't worry, it's worth waiting. she was absolutely right. until the Chinese go out. That's the best. I've ever had it.

Large selection of dishes. Lady on counter was extremely welcoming and friendly. I like this a lot. Food came out within 5 mins of ordering. All well wrapped. I was solo so had chow mien and peking chicken dishes (with boiled rice). Was good. Noodle well cooked. Peking chicken nice and tangy with a little kick. I enjoyed a lot. I read other reviews and was surprised by the negative comments. My experience was good. I would go back again. Only minor negative is that the peking dish only filled half the pot. If sharing the dish than you may feel a little short changed. For me no issue. Prices were fair. Decent quality

Popping in to see Katie at the Golden Rice is always a treat. You are greeted by a warm smile, and once you have placed your order, you can then marvel at her amazing multitasking skills. I have seen that lady, take a call, note down an order, and work out the price, all while wrapping the food that has come out of the hatch behind her. Between these times, she's always up for a pleasant chat while you wait for your takeaway. She's awesome! The food from here has always been delicious and reasonably priced, which is why it has now been my regular Chinese takeaway for years and the go to place after every haircut session in Hexham to finish off my evening. Please note its cash only, but that is hardly a problem as there are a number of ATMs close by.
