Never had an issue..until today! Food took 40+ minutes to arrive, was cold and there was an error with one order. To be fair it was a busy time so fair enough, although not ideal. However, this would have been a very different experience if the server had an ounce of customer service skills. Unfortunately this young lady was rude, dismissive , highly unprofessional and immature. After I spoke with the Manager , who was very nice, I paid discount given) but left no tip. Server was obviously upset so she threw the receipt at me and stormed off with a “ You are not welcome!” , her response to my standard “thank you”. What a disservice to a well respected business! To have someone who is so self entitled and with no impulse control whatsover deal with the public is truly a detriment to the reputation of this institution! HR should review it’s screening and hiring practices...
We went to this White Spot for dinner on a Friday evening. I ordered a dinner salad which cost about $15. It was advertised as containing hot chicken with greens. I couldn 't believe my eyes when it arrived: There was the equivalent of one chicken breast, cut up into inch square pieces. The rest of the plate was merely lettuce with a few nuts mixed in. Usually, a green salad contains a few pieces of cucumber or a bit of tomato. What a rip-off!
There are numerous White Spots in the Lower Mainland, and most serve good food at reasonable prices in comfortable and attractive decor. This one is no exception. But what makes a White Spot very good rather than just good is, in my mind, the server. Our server, Martin, was excellent. He was friendly yet professional, and seemed to know exactly when to come to us to take things forward, be it for initial orders, bringing the food, taking the dessert order or bringing the bill. The food was also up to expectations, and I particularly liked my Terkiyaki Chicken Rice Bowl. Other orders were the Chicken strips and fries with coleslaw, and a bowl of soup both pronounced good. The Decadent Chocolate Cake with ice cream was rich and delicious, as was the fudge brownie with ice cream, and the simple ice cream with chocolate sauce. A good place to stop if you are on Highway 1 and have just come over the 2nd Narrows Bridge on your way to Horseshoe Bay, and you fancy a meal break. Or on your way back from Horseshoe Bay and heading east out of Vancouver.
This restaurant is perfect for a good meal before the show. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the food is always great. The menu has tons of options. They went out of their way to take care of us tonight. Thank you, White Spot!
