Great Steak - North Riverside

1 of 2 of the best steak sandwich in IL. The other is Bruno's of Aurora. Great stks knows it's not an original Philly cheese steak sandwich and that's what I respect about this restaurant. They does their thing and not try to be like Philly originals. No one can duplicate the Original Philly cheese steak, Geno's, Jim's Sonny's of Philadelphia, PA.

My daughter and I went here on Oct 19th 2019. We had the worse service ever. My daughter ordered two sandwiches and I placed an order for two sandwiches. The cook was fabulous it was the guy that puts the vegetables on your sandwich. He was rude and didnt know what he was doing. I will never eat here again. I got home the order was completely wrong and not wrapped correctly.

The restaurant would benefit from dropping the large portion of their name. The cheese steak lacked sufficient meat and had too much bread. Additionally, the prices appeared to be on the high side, with $20 seeming excessive for a drink and a sandwich.

One of the top two best steak sandwiches in Illinois can be found at Great Steaks, along with Bruno's in Aurora. Great Steaks understands that there is no original Philly cheesesteak, and I appreciate that about this restaurant. They stick to what they do best and don't try to imitate the original Philly cheesesteak from places like Geno's, Jim's, or Sonny's in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
