Char Siu House - North Melbourne

Omg ! We fell in love with this place. The food was so good. The friendly service was great. Dont be put off by its looks - its worth having a meal here. Enjoyable authentic food .

We did a drop in last night on the way out for the evening. Like anyone looking for someone to eat it's hard not to pass judgement on the premises and transferring that to the food. We walked in , laminate tables and no decor at all. HOWEVER. the staff were friendly the premises clean and the food OUTSTANDING. Fresh food served fast. Not oily or greasy at all even on the deep fried stuff. Great food. Thanks!

We were at the Char Siu at the beginning of June 2017. Our hotel was a few step away and we found the place as we were looking around to see what to eat.The menus outside appealed, foodwise and pricewise, as Melbourne can be pretty pricey when it come to food. Our server Michelle was very nice, and since we have some problems with really spicy food, she recommended some dish and said that she would requests them with minimal spices to suit our diet.We went twice! The first time we both had the Kung Pao Chicken and the second time, I had the Beef Szechuan and my husband had the chicken Szechuan. Each time the amount of spice was perfect. The vegetable in the Kung Pao were perfect and the taste of the other plates too.Their dining room is small but you can also do take out (take away in Australia) which seem to be the main of their business. Locals were pouring in and out, which is an excellent sign too. I would definitely go back to Char Siu when in Melbourne and Thank you to Michelle for her kindness and excellent service.

Great variety throughout the menu and reasonably priced. Always very friendly service and we've never waited long for our order.

Ordered Kung Pao Chicken. The cook forgot the cashew nuts which are clearly shown in the menu picture. The salt n pepper squid is not curly and crisp like before. Now it's just battered. The gravy is thickened Knorr stock. So salty. Just not worth it these days.
