Fish'n'chick'n - North Hertfordshire

Used to be great. Decided to go again and what a mistake. Food inedible. Fish cooked in stale oil. Staff surly and it didn’t look very clean, Hope they didn’t overcharge me and good advice from others to check your bank statement. So many great places to eat in Baldock but this is no longer one of them.

Omg never ever again, so dirty, staff was just 1 girl who was so busy doing everything as restaurant is upstairs not good at all for disabled. Food was over cooked or under cooker. None of us will ever come here again and this 10 people what makes this worst, prog of grime places this place was on it lucky for us we didn't get dodgy tummy def one place I would avoid.

We used to come as a group for our Christmas dinner annually but went elsewhere last year as it had changed hands. Thought we’d give the new management a chance and were treated to a great welcome the food was served all together (there were 7 of us) and was piping hot. The cod was huge with thin and crispy batter and excellent chips. The scampi eaters were pleased with their meals. The chicken salad was so large half had to be boxed up to take home. Pots of tea were good and the young lady serving was great. We will certainly be back. It was a shame to see the place so quiet as the food was good and the welcome sincere.

We ate in at the overhead restaurant. My wife and I both had regular cod and chips and my mum haddock and chips. Service was welcoming and friendly. Our meal was freshly cooked and arrived in 10-15 minutes. The quality was excellent and the portions plentiful. We were asked during our meal and as we paid if everything was ok. The cost, including 3 soft drinks and one curry sauce was £32. We will certainly visit again.

My elderly father brought scampi and chips and Mushy peas on Saturday cost should have been around £8.70 .When he checked his bank statement today they had taken £18.15 . May have been a genuine mistake maybe not .After much debate about where my dads receipt was (he doesnt remember getting one , or who does keep their fast food receipts he was grudgingly repaid the £10 difference .Please check your bank balance if paying by card here ??????
