Caffe Nero - North Devon

We ordered 2 salted caramel hot chocolates, we were told straight away that there was no oat milk or vegan cream but when they arrived there was also no fudge brownie pieces. They have a good vegan selection but is disappointing that they had run out of items and still charged us full price when we didn't receive the full drink and also got charged extra for coconut milk. When this was queried we were told that the cream wasn't extra so we weren't charged for this but it was obviously part of the drink so we were paying for it. A slight reduction would have been nice. The seating area was quite dirty, cups still on tables, floor was messy, toilets had tissue on floor, it was 12pm on a Sunday and the woman behind the counter seemed to be on her own so we did not mention the mess as she was busy.

The branch is in a good location near the Pannier Market and offers the usual selection of snacks etc. The staff were pleasant enough and service was fairly prompt. The toilets are cramped and have no fresh air coming in. Overall, it is slightly grubby and a clean/tidy up is needed.

You can always count on a delicious Coffee/Cortado at Caffe Nero, and this branch is no different. We frequent the Town often and this place serves the best Coffee, with Boston Tea Party coming in at a close second. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of the disappointing selection of Cakes and pastries. It seemed like they hadn't received a recent delivery, as they were only displaying leftovers from the previous day that weren't very appetizing. This was quite unusual, as our previous experiences at this location have been really good.

The new manager at this restaurant is making positive changes. The staff seems happier and the cafe is much cleaner. When I visited today, I spoke to the young manager who has been with the company for several years. He made me a delicious latte and I noticed him cleaning the walls, something that hadn't been done in a while. Some improvements I've noticed include a better stocked and organized cake fridge, more sandwich options, prompt table clearing, cleaner floors, happier staff, and the store opening on time every day. Overall, I'm impressed with the positive changes under the new manager's leadership.

I had a super cozy and adorable coffee date with my partner. I typically don't enjoy coffee dates because I'm not a fan of coffee, but I decided to try the amaretto hot chocolate and it was absolutely delicious. We've been going to Cafe Nero every Sunday for the past three weeks just to have this amazing drink. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
