We arrived to crackers on the table. Was little surprised we were the only ones having the Xmas menu but I was told that would be the case., and had to book in advance. Food was very good and plenty of roast potatoes. Dessert was lovely too We did have a slight issue with the bill as we paid a deposit and wasn't deducted but was soon rectified. Good atmosphere and a little noisy at times with a big group of people, but didn't affect us really Would definitely go back
Great family dinner. All meals excellent, great steak and mushroom pie. Please can you make Childs pasta meal with egg free pasta, we had a very disappointed three year old with an allergy to eggs!
Heard good things about this place, warm welcome from the guy behind the bar walking in. The dining area was pretty full when we got there at about 4.30 for a late Sunday lunch. People started to leave whilst we were eating and we were alone in the dining area by about 7ish. Google says the place shuts at 10pm on a Sunday, but we got the impression the staff wanted us to leave around 7. Not in a horrible way, but we just got that impression. We stayed for dessert and would’ve loved to have stayed for hot drinks afterwards as we were meeting another family with children for a Christmas catch up. But we soon realised no one was in the pub area anymore and we were the last to leave. It was the night of the World Cup final so we assumed there were people in the pub.L and we just could see round the corner! We left just before 7.30 and the lights were all turned out as we walked to our cars. I don’t know if I read google wrong, I just assumed it was a pub and would stay open a bit longer in general not just for us of course. We did ask what time they officially closed on a Sunday and they said ‘Sundays are a weird one, we just wait till everyone’s gone’. It was a bit of a shame to cut our catch up short. But it was nice food and atmosphere in general.
Very quiet on an icy, snowy day. Excellent parsnip and apple soup, followed by beef ale pie. Mains almost too generous to finish. Delightful young staff, providing complimentary tech advice to Instagram novice septagenarian, a bonus ! Love the Farmers, food always outstanding.
