Bidrage med feedbackI walked in around 3pm, one weekday afternoon. The place didn't have guests, just me. I was ravenous as I had not had lunch at that time and both my eyes were turning white. The staff approached me, and I asked what tastes great here. She suggested the pasta, and while perusing their menu, I couldn't take my eyes off at the Laksa Pasta. I thought, that would be interesting, and so I ordered. The staff gave me a bottle of water and a glass. That was fine with me as I needed my thirst quenched every now and then. About 10 minutes after my meal arrived. It's the first time I saw flower petals on my food, and sorry, even if it seems palpable, but I really had to ask whether it's edible and of course it was. My food was so pretty, the petals gave it color. I twirled my pasta and sliced some chicken. It had a good balance of sweetness and saltiness. However, it was definitely hard to finish as it was way too much for one person. I didn't want to waste nor carry a doggy bag afterwards, so I finished it. The pasta was quite flavorful, finishing it was a task though as you will get tired eventually of its savory taste. It's better if you have someone to share this with. The staff were friendly and attentive. The place had an interesting vibe. As they say, this seems to be a spot perfect for the titas of Manila. Yeowch. Sigh. But yes, the flowers painted on the wall looks nice and tita-ish. It was a good experience. I'm intrigued with the champorado suman though but I have to make another visit for that.
What a beautiful restaurant? This is the first statement that pop up in my mind when I saw Persephone. Persephone is a posh restaurant serving healthy food. And we had the following: Corn Okoy Tapas Olive Tapenade Tapas Asparagus Mint Toast Strawberry French Toast Fruit Pancake Fishball Red Burger Tapsilog Bagnetsilog Salmon with Veggie Rice Chicken Pesto with Cauliflower Rice Spanish Toast Surprisingly even their food were beautifully presented to us, very colorful. My favorites were the Samon with Veggie Rice and the Fishball. Both dishes were tasty. Definitely I will be back again for those dishes. The only issue... I think they need to do something with their pancake. It’s not fluffy. #ilovetoeatph
Review as of January 2018 One of the coziest nooks this side of Makati. Persephone took over the old space of Come Forth Kitchen you might miss this restaurant because they still don't have their signage up yet. They serve incredibly interesting yet bizarre dessert twists (Champorado Tuyo Suman anyone? and their servings are quite generous though, I'm not very sure how they deliver their seasonal kitchen angle Must tries: Bangsilog Champorado Tuyo Suman (disclamer: tastes a bit odd but just try it! Tips: Split a dish in two! The dishes are a lot and can feed more than one person especially if you're looking to order an appetizer or dessert! Dishes tried: Fishball, Sweet Potato Chips, Bangsilog, Kare kareng Manok, Champorado Tuyo Suman, Kabog Suman
Persephone is one of the newest restaurants in Makati located on the stretch of Jupiter Street. The restaurant’s facade is so inviting because of the colorful flower-inspired wall and green plants at the entrance. Persephone is not a typical name for a restaurant so I got curious on its meaning. I read in the www that Persephone is actually a goddess of a Greek Mythology. Her role was to work with nature ensuring good growth for flowers and plants. I therefore conclude that this is the reason behind the restaurant’s interiors.
I'm not a fan of mythology I'm more on history. As I've learned Persephone is the goddess of vegetation and wife of Hades. Back to the restaurant, they are still in the soft opening state. So many adjustments and tweaking are being done to provide their guests a better experience. The interiors in a artsy ,modern and have a mural of bright hued flowers.Very feminine indeed. While waiting for the other guests to arrive we were given the Corn Okoy to have something to munch on. I will just run down on my favorites, and also on the items that needed a bit of modification. Favorites: Bagnetsilog-serve ala Bibimbap, nice crispy skin ,tender meat the variety of veggies that comes with it makes the dish exciting and healthy a complete dish. And it can be shared by two individuals. Corn okoy- Japanese corn kernels made into this classic pinoy street snack. The sweetness of the corn drenched into this deep fried crunchy batter will wake up any palate. Fish balls- love the non fishcake like texture let's leave that into Oriental and asian dishes. The chunks of fish that disintegrates upon sinking your teeth in made it likable. And the aftertaste of the dory which I despise was non existent. Red Burger- crispy breaded chicken in Korean gochujang paste, love the tanginess of the red slaw, very inviting love to eat more of this. Poached egg over asparagus- simple yet very very good ,creative idea on adding the mint ,great spin because the asparagus and poached eggs are one of the best food pairing ever. Needs improvement: Tapsilog- same as the bagnet in presentation ,tho this one misses in the area of meat tenderness and flavor pairing, the flavor of the meat does not match the Korean condiment that comes with it.The flavor of the meat is a bit on the sweet size and I think it should have been sliced thinly so that it will be easier to chew. Olive tapenade this dish should have been very good if only they made the bread into crostini and not served as it is.Nice breaded shrimp with bits of olives on top that when you bite into it flavors of olives explodes .Sayang. Spanish toast- not really impressed with this one it was a bit ordinary ,bread drenched into orange brandy. The appearance on the outside maybe good but when dug upon the texture is like water soaked. The incorporation of the orange does not hit the mark. Overall ,as it is in its soft opening ,its still understandable .Love the visual presentation of their dishes, the orchid petals of the garnish is very appealing, maybe because they want to live up to the name Persephone.A place for the sophisticated female crowd.
