Modern Shanghai, Glorietta 2 - Niles

Excellent siomai. Service improved a bit as compared as last year. Food is tasty and well priced.

We went to Modern Shanghai mainly because our Bistro card/coupon was expiring in 2 weeks. We were a bit apprehensive since this resto has a low rating on Zomato. Happy to report that the food is great and fully deserving the 4 rating. For beverages, we had the excellent Shanghai Lily which is a fruity iced tea with lychee, pomelo and honey. Refreshing and not too sweet. I had the barley tea which is good too. We started off with excellent Steamed Chicken Feet. Finger-licking good! The House Soup with spinach and egg drop in corn starch was ok. For mains we had Signature Shanghai Fried Noodles- tasty but noodles were very thick. Sautéed Sliced US Beef with Scallions was really good. Tender beef mixed with veggies in a thick tasty soup. Claypot Tofu was ok. We need more Zomans to try this resto without being put off by the low average rating

Food is good but not great! Nothing extraordinary. Just a typical chinese restaurant. Too a little bit time for the food to be serve. Tolerable if your not hungry. Free coffee for Bistro card holders. :

Food and service was good. It would have been higher if we didn't have an unpleasant experience with the senior citizen discount. Will not go back

There xiao long bao is amazing , there crispy garlic chicken is off the chain.. And yang chow fried rice ... Is my fav! Thank goodness I found this place ...also just like din tai fung there's a guy making the xiao long bao in the window! Fresh..
