HIMALAYA - Nice

A busy Friday evening in old Nice and we couldn't get into many of the restaurants when we came across the Himalaya, they had live music not over bearing but atmospheric the singer was very good indeed. We sat outside in the street in really...comfortable furniture. The food was some of the best Indian food have eaten! the service was excellent and what with the food and the music it was a magical evening. Reasonably priced.

This restaurant is tucked away in the old town and might take some finding but it is well worth it. The food is great tasting and even better value. Service was great and even the wine was good. I would go again if and when...I am back in Nice

I write western style, because although the decoration is authentic and the personnel is Indian what they cook is adapted to the common western tastes, briefly the food is not spicy enough. Otherwise it is a really nice place, the service is charming and the...plates are good. Usually I don't order vegetarian plates, but here I gave it a try, as I know Indian vegetarian food is especially good, and I was not disappointed. There were two desserts, the fondant au chocolat was perfect, however the gulab jamun was a bit surprising to me as it was served cold with whipped cream. It was not bad, but really surprising, I think the authentic version is still better. I recommend this place, it is not a tourist trap.

You can't help but love this place nice people, good food and a trendy environment. The food is good with that Mauritian, spice islands, feel. The owner is charming, the staff (sometime she kids) are also charming plus some nights they do music. So...for that authentic taste in a happy atmosphere wander by here. Good indian food is hard to find, you will find it here Mauritian style!
