Bidrage med feedbackLight and attractive furniture, admirably spaced, so you can conduct a conversation at normal voice levels. There were 4 of us at 8:30 pm on a Saturday evening. By 9:15 pm the restaurant was full.Very efficient: a young couple, owners, run the kitchen, which is modern and functional., and open to view without being disturbing. One waitress assists these in serving -- every move seems to be synchronised between them. The menu is not extensive, but the food is high quality and attractive. One of our dishes arrived rather cold: it was replaced almost before the subject was mentioned. If you sit near the kitchen, there are motifs projected on the wall of the adjacent open room, a TV eye, dancing, some amusing for a moment of repose. The room also accommodates small sitdown groups, for unobtrusive celebrations -- as was the case on Saturday. We shall return here.
Limited menu (a good idea) reasonable prices nice simple decor and excellent food and service. My wife's dish of beef with chocolate and mine of seared Red Tuna were superb, entrees too, Celeriac with a remoulade sauce, the white wine we ordered "White Sprirt" was very good as well. Seems to be frequented by a nice quiet clientelle, no problem recommending this restaurant to others.
Have visited bel oeil several times and enjoyed its homely food and quirky atmosphere but on this occasion the meal was a little disappointing - the creme du barry with boudin noir was cold and the pudding was mushy - rather unappetising - the slow cooked lamb shoulder was unflavoursome and having been reheated from its original 6hour cooking had a rather hard surface layer - the accompanying vegetables and pureed parsnip were uninspiring - dessert of milky coffee and a piece of dry cake was a fitting end - nevertheless the staff is pleasant and the wines are reasonably priced -needs to pick up its skirts
Three of us came here for dinner on the recommendation of our friends. Bel Oeil is located just off the cool Port quartier, where we live. The welcome was warm, the decor modern eclectic, the service excellent and the food very tasty and original. The limited menu works as we all found several options from which to choose. The recommended wine (a bio Grenache) was a good accompaniment. We all chose the mackerel risotto as a main course and we all liked it. We will be returning soon!
The food is very good, the atmosphere is quite nice. Nice selection of wine. However, it is a tad on the expensive side.
