Cooper's Hotel - Newtown

Popped in for a Sunday roast again and it was just as delicious as the previous visit! Veges were cooked just right and the Yorkshire puddings a nice addition. The beef was cooked to medium which may not be to everyone's looking but was fine for me. Roasts are served from 12:00pm until sold out...get in early!

I 've been dining at the upstairs restaurant at the Coopers Hotel for many years. I 've never previously felt the need to review, as it has always been 'Okay ' to Good during various managements. However, a dining experience last week was so disappointing in terms of service that I feel compelled to point out some of the problems I experienced in the hope that they may be addressed for future patrons. Certain things such as the currently greatly reduced menu are to be expected and tolerated during Covid. A total lack of decent service is not In summary... All available tables were wet presumably from spilled drinks (see ahead) and had to been cleaned up by the diner before sitting down. A cocktail was ordered, and a nice tip given in advance, but the young server spilled much of it upon delivery. No clean up was attempted; no apology was offered; eye contact wasn 't even made. (And, remember, they 'd already received a nice tip). Entrees and mains were ordered. They were all delivered at the same time. So the entrees were left, so that the mains could be eaten while still warm. When a request to get a box to take away the uneaten entrees was made, it was met with hostility. Eventually a cardboard box was provided so that a $17 serve of chicken wings could be taken home. However, asking for a ramekin or plastic container to take home the blue cheese dipping sauce was too much for the kitchen staff to tolerate. I 've been coming here for years. I won 't be back. And I sincerely suggest that you avoid it too.

The rooftop patio is awesome! Amazing view! The drinks were OK but nothing special. Just pricey... But the view is worth the money!

Paul if u think ur funny for barring me for something I didn’t do all I asked u is for u to show me some sort of proof of me placing the bet and walking away without paying U could have at least screenshot it ur phone but no ur were ignorant rude and down right disrespectful and u took great pleasure in taunting me and pushing my buttons with ur smug behaviour it was clear to me u wanted to provoke me and I must say I nearly work mind u yes I was rude to u and make so rude comments but in my defence how dare u accuse me of robbing the pub of a $90 and $20 dispute but back nothing up but stand there being childish and immature towards me u already had a chip on ur shoulder and couldn’t wait to throw ur weight around and power just because ur meant to be a important figure in this organisation please u couldn’t run a brothel with a room full girls and fist full of dollars If ur running things up there let me just say to the owners there in for really trouble because ur nothing more than a thug and a bully who gets he’s kicks out on making up fairytales and if u can’t train ur staff to watch what there doing then ur in for more of these made up stories if u were any decent manager and wanted to resolve this vendetta towards me u had ur chance to back it up but u decided to be the aggressive and rude u couldn’t manage a public toilet because that’s basically where ur manners belong in the toilet who do u think u r stepping towards me a bluntly calling me a robber and a thief to my face without and decorum or evidence ur a rude man who walks around abusing his power like u matter please if ur so confident and u actually have this so called footage prove me wrong I dare u my advice to u is whatever problems ur having at home or wherever leave them at home ur paid to do a job ur surely not qualify doing because after I left I spoke to some other managers and there answer was he’s obviously has a personal vendetta towards me because if it was other locals I bet u would have approached it in a different light basically ur statement was a defamation of my character I’ve never did that anywhere and I surely wouldn’t do it where I socialise and consider it my local I’ve been going there for 20yrs and yes I may have had my differences but I’ve never been called a thief to my face and if someone with half a brain could please investigate this one sided personal attack towards me and show me some proof I will not stop reviewing and rubbishing the pub until he’s apologised for the wrongfully accusation at me and I won’t name him and shame him like he did I will wilfully except it and move on............. Food very disappointing. Our salmon was so encrusted in hot pepper that we couldn't eat it. Family dinner while brother was visiting from the USA was spoilt by the food not being up to scratch. I used to love coming here as the food was always spot on and enjoyable. Not sure if they have changed the chef but it's certainly gone downhill. Staff are always friendly and atmosphere is pleasant but the kitchen needs to lift it's game.
