The Richard Hopkins - Newton Abbot

I don’t visit this restaurant frequently, but I stopped by on Wednesday morning and noticed some positive changes! The staff were outstanding—very helpful and attentive. I'm not sure if there's been a shift in leadership, but whatever the reason, it's really making a difference. It was a delightful surprise!

Atmosphere was nice and relaxed, but we came to eat. The food wasn't the best, and a swear the portion sizes have shrunk from what they used to be. There are better pubs in Newton Abbot.

The staff were run off their feet! But there was no wait for food. Obviously short staffed as only down stairs open. Bar and outside upstairs closed. Food ok. But the restaurant floor was covered in dishes!! This has to be addressed. At all times there should be someone clearing tables AND cleaning the tables for the next customer. This is always a let down with spoons. Very often I clean my own table. Staff very helpful.

Would've been higher but putting the delivery away slowly, one box at a time meant the cold breeze coming from the kitchen made everyone at the table cold. A better effort could have been made to speed this process and make sure customers were warmer. Other than that, good food and good beer
