I understand why reservations are required, but it is definitely worth it. The food is good! My only complaint is that the music is so loud, there is no conversation unless you scream. This is, of course, why most people listen to jazz versus talk. It's an older Crowd Art Vibe, so I'll bring my mom back. I'm sure she'll love it.
Let's go. They tell you before the time to expect a slow service (through both, how busy they are and staff). A pretty accurate assessment. But the Chill Vibes a great band make the wait pleasant. Good service was slow. The food was great. I've never been impressed by crabs. I mean, never. Until I went to dinner at the station. Spread potatoes with garlic butter. The wife ordered the Prime Rib, which was perfectly seasoned. The band was phenomenal. While they were all great, the saxophone player and bassist were the stars. The terrace is right on the waterfront, so add in a spectacular view (at sunset, no less) and it was a great evening.
The sign saying they were taking temperatures was false. No one took our temperature and it was PACKED. There's very little room in this restaurant. While at mid-capacity this might add to a homey and personal feel, on busy days it amounts to sitting back to back or knee to knee with a stranger. Although we arrived on time, my party's reservation had been given away. Luckily, the new seats they gave us were much better. I don't recommend the she-crab soup: it's far too sweet. The crab canapes are buttery and crispy but with too much cheese, it overwhelms the crab imo. We waited 1.5 hrs for our entrees. I get it, it was Friday, but just so you know what to expect. I should also mention that our waiter never brought or even offered water refills, which feels like an oversight. The scallops were out, so I got the blackened catfish, steamed broccoli, and mac and cheese. I also had the chance to sample the fried trout and collard greens. Everything except the mac and cheese was good enough to come back for, hence the ??? instead of ?? review. The mac and cheese...it's definitely homemade, but there's not nearly enough cheese in it, it's very bland. The live music was good, a young man called Talton Manning, but if you've got sensitive ears like mine you may want to bring some earbuds to the restaurant.
