Bidrage med feedbackFirst visit here. Really nice place, and so much bigger than I expected. The outdoor seating is great. Our waitress was wonderful. I got the wings with the honey barbecue sauce, and they were perfect. Easily accessible for all.
Tried a locally owned place called Smoke. They seemed to have a live guitarist playing on the deck. Really great blackened chicken. Mixed veggies were peppers, onion, zucchini, and squash. The server, Emily, recommended the mashed potatoes with the gravy on the side. Probably my favorite meal so far in Newport News. Would recommend going both for the food and the quality service.
This has become my new favorite spot for ribs and collard greens! Today was my first visit, and I am absolutely impressed and satisfied! First of all, the ribs were cooked and seasoned to perfection, which was the main reason for my visit. The collard greens were large, leafy, and flavorful. The mixed vegetables were fresh, seasoned wonderfully, and not overcooked at all. To top it off, I enjoyed some banana pudding that was fresh and delicious as well. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained.
Overall, everything was delightful except for the brisket, which turned out to be dry and tough. The cheese sticks were fantastic, and the collard greens were cooked to perfection. My daughter particularly loved the pulled pork, and the ribs were also very good.
While visiting from out of town, I asked a local for a recommendation for a good burger that wasn't from a chain. They directed me to Smoke, and I have to say it was a fantastic burger! However, if you're looking for a wide variety of burger options, this might not be the place for you, as their menu offers the typical choices. I thought the prices and portion sizes were fair, and the fried pickles were excellent—really generous servings! Our server was friendly but appeared to be handling a lot of tables at once. Overall, I would definitely return.
