Bidrage med feedbackThe service was even worse. The waiter spent the entire time sitting down and eating his lunch. There was only one other customer in the restaurant, and she even apologized to him for interrupting his meal. How did we get to this point? He was the only server there and clearly didn’t know what he was doing. He spoke only Japanese, which is fine, but he couldn't assist with ordering or understanding the menu at all, making the whole experience even more frustrating, especially given the awful food I was served. This is a very honest review, and my biggest regret is spending $20.68 that I will never get back.

I make a two-hour drive every month just to eat at this restaurant. It's hands down the best sushi in town. The prices are reasonable for the amazing quality of sushi you get. Kid-friendly options: they have tempura for kids instead of sushi. Meal type: lunch. Price per person: $10–20. Food rating: 5 out of 5.
A cozy little sushi spot in Newport! The ninja sushi we tried was quite delicious, featuring a fantastic sauce. Everything is made to order, and our waiter provided incredibly friendly service!
I've been wanting to try Tengu for at least a year, and I finally had the chance to do so. Unfortunately, since it was a takeout order, I made the big mistake of forgetting to request that no mayo or sauces be added to the one roll I ordered. Sure enough, when I received my meal, there was a thick mayo-like sauce on top, as well as some type of Sriracha hot sauce and a teriyaki sauce. The orange Sriracha completely overwhelmed the flavor; it was all I could taste. I'm very sensitive to hot sauces and peppers, so it's no surprise that the heat dominated the dish for me. My husband, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed it—he could practically drink Sriracha straight! I recognize that this mix-up was partly my fault, so I'm willing to give Tengu another chance. However, I was taken aback by the price of $7.50 for just two pieces of nigiri, which is $3.00 more than what other places charge. I also ordered a Newport Roll, and to my disappointment, there was no mention of sauces being included in the menu description. I wish I could've sampled all the ingredients in the roll instead of just the overwhelming sauce.
