Bidrage med feedbackGood place to stop for a quick feed with great views right next to the new light rail or plenty of push bike parking.
Now with the rail gone Café de Wheels is in a reasonable pleasant park in Wharf Road. Between the four of us we had the pies with potato and gravy, the pies with peas, potato and gravy and a hotdog with mustard. The pies were great. Lovely chunks of melt-in-the-mouth beef in a perfect spicy and peppery gravy. The potato and mushy peas with additional gravy finished off a very satisfying dish. The hotdog with mustard was pleasant without being sensational.A must have is a plate of chips. Crunchy, soft on the inside and a great coating on the outside. Some of the best chips I have had.Choose a sunny day and time to spare and you will be able to enjoy.
My family and I have always treated ourselves to Harry's hotdogs. They are the best hotdogs, specially the chilli dogs. Great location also.
After a very long walk around the Newcastle harbour, foreshore and beaches we walked past the cafe on our return to our car and couldn't pass up the chance to have a Tiger. We don't have them very often but when we do we love them!!! The poe is divine and with the toppings just superb.
We visited Harry's cafe de wheels in wharf rd on a Saturday night. I had a chilli dog which was $7.50 and very generous in size and my husband had the meat pie. ($4.90) I enjoyed the chilli dog but my husband was not fussed on the pie. The service was great. There were tables to sit and eat outside which was great. You can park directly out the front of the cafe (5 mins) or a bit further away for longer. It was something different from the usual takeaway and worth a visit. The prices were reasonable.
