Bidrage med feedbackArrived slightly early so was asked to have a drink at the bar until table was ready. Ordered a bottle of processco after paying £29.95 we had to ask for glasses. When our table was ready the waitress didn't make any attempt to help carry our drinks. We also discovered that there was an alternative processco for £20.00 which we were not offered. Starters came quickly. Main course also quite speedy except for the side dish of vegetables which arrived at least 5 minutes later after 2 requests to the waitress. My meal was delicious but my two daughter were quite disappointed with theirs. Sadly this poor service would certainly make me think twice before eating here again.
We had a really lovely night at our boy jacks 21st !! everyone enjoyed the ambience we all chose different meals ,and we enjoyed what we had ,the music was feel good factor 1950s to 1970s the décor trendy and the young man who looked after us was very kind ,we had to wait a while for food but it was all cooked to order the risottos home made burgers the fish dishes and steaks spot on ,it is quieter mid week ,so made it easier for the staff , our ages 12yrs to 78yrs 15 of us ,handy tip the multi car park an other side of road is free after 5pm Monday to sat .tues 24th march 2015
Held a 21st birthday party for my daughter recently in the private room at the back,we had about 60 guests ,room would hold more but we wanted space for dancing. Room has a lovely ambiance when decorated and candlelit.Went for the canape catering option which went down really well and all too quickly! We felt really looked after by Michael and whole team and have had many compliments on the successs of the party.Great central location.
Visited here last Saturday evening, it started out well with our drinks order and food order taken promptly by a very polite waitress. The starter arrived very quick, i went for the pork ribs which were tasty but the meal was not piping hot. After that we waited and waited for our main meal, it took over an hour and the service had went down greatly in our estimations. I ordered the oak burger which when it eventually arrived came with under cooked chips and the burger fell apart due to the bad quality burger bun. This meal was extremely over priced for what it was worth. No one came to check if the food was okay and I had to get the waiters attention to mention the under cooked chips. This was sorted quickly but it continuously proved very difficult to get the waiter and waitresses attention throughout the entire meal. There was no sign of the waitress who was looking after us in the first place and no one came over in her place...No one kept us informed or apologise about the long wait for our mains, or took more drinks orders. I noticed quite a few members of staff seemed more interested in concentrating on making more tables up, hanging around at the bar area and kitchen hot plate area. Throughout the lengthy time i spent here last Saturday evening I could also see looking around that most of the other customers there at the time were also sat waiting for something or other. After the main it took a while for our plates to be cleared away and no one came over to offer desserts or ask if everything was okay with the food. Eventually we got the waiters attention and had intended on getting desserts but decided to leave it and ask for the bill. I did mention to the waiter that we had waited a very very long time for our mains and weren't really very happy at all. He seemed to get very defensive, explaining that on Saturday everywhere you go is busy, all the customers came at once and that you can't get the staff to work weekend evening shifts. I felt this was a very poor excuse as the majority of restaurants in Newcastle seem to get staffing right on a weekend. He was correct though it definitely seemed that there was a lack of staff or a lack of attentive staff and he wasn't very kind in his response to me, he raised his voice sightly and definitely seemed slightly angry and almost made me feel silly for mentioning it.The waiting around for our meal, poor food quality and poor service really ruined our evening and we left the restaurant feeling deflated and in a negative mood.I understand it can be busy on a Saturday, but I have not experienced this poor service in a restaurant in Newcastle's city centre for a very long time and will never return to Oak again and will not be recommending it to anyone i know.
Loved this place, great service, great food!! Would definitely recommend!!! Cannot wait to go back!!!
