Scottie's Fish Cafe - NEWCASTLE EAST

JEN!!! Just had lunch and wow oh wow oh wow!! I had salmon and so did joe. It's better than any seafood restaurant we have been to in Sydney or anywhere for that matter!! The fish was 11 out of 10 plus more!! Thank you so much for another wow factor meal. We love Scotties

We had eaten takeaway from here before and enjoyed it, so thought we would try out the dine-in option. Although most reviews are very good, we were a little disappointed with the experience. We treated ourselves to cocktails and they were excellent. Food was good although quite highly priced, particularly considering the atmosphere. We were expecting a restauranty-feel to the place, after reviewing their menu online and the pricing, but it was pretty much just a fish and chip shop with the smell of deep frying in the air. Would definitely eat there again by getting takeaway, but the dine-in experience just left us a little flat. We had our next meal at Jonah's on the beach and for a luxury experience, prices were not that much more per plate.

My wife and I went to Scotties with a friend for our last dinner in Newcastle on our holiday to Australia. It ended up being one of our favorite meals. First off, we sat outside, underneath the Christmas lights and palm tree, a perfect setting for dinner. We decided to do the chef's choice option, only $50 per person!We started with pineapple mojitos, while I had a dark and stormy. Beautiful and tasty drinks. Then the dishes started. Salt and Chile baby squid, shrimp toast, and scallops to start. We then went into the entrees, with flathead, a whole red snapper, then ended with the phenomenal chowder. To say we were stuffed AND satisfied would be an understatement. If you want an authentic seafood meal, with a tasty twist and great setting, go here.

My friends and I were looking for a place to eat In Newcastle East. The noise in one place sent us scurrying for a quit haven and we found that and more in Scotties. The food was served on tin plates but the lack of fancy flat ware only enhanced the flavours of the food. We each ordered different dishes and each exclaimed theirs was the best!Courteous staff, lovely surroundings and fabulous food. Can't wait to go back again!!

Popped in without a booking and without any idea of this restaurant. It was conveniently close to accommodation. The menu is small and specialised. We were very happy with our salmon and snapper meals. Great service and best sticky date pudding ever. A quiet crowd for a winter's Saturday night but all enjoyed this charming restaurant and quality food served. Highly recommended.
