Tanoshi Sushi Sake - New York

Fresh, delicious, and creative food. Reasonably priced Omakase. Chefs save money on decoration for food quality (a relaxed and self-restrained atmosphere, not pretentious like in Tokyo). This is my second visit (I went here last year). It would be greatif menu could offer a 20 sushi per course as an alternative option so we could enjoy a wider variety of fish; sushi dishes withKanji characters, culturally valued; as well as other soups and traditional cuisines usually available in a high-end omakasecourse. Excellent value for lunch. Sushi was excellent. The only issue was the chef was a bit surly and was not able to communicate clearly what he was serving.

Delicious sushi in a no frills atmosphere. Service was very good. A bit pricey but well worth the experience given the quality. We opted for the chef guided selection coursed one at a time, then added a few more pieces at the end. Some pieces are traditional and others are very creative, but the fish shines here, not overwhelming sauces, as you may see at some other sushi places. This place is BYOB. Would definitely return.

Love this place! Serious, special omikase at a not-crazy price. Lovely kind people working there who will go out of their way to make you happy. Amazing fish, served in an authentic, albeit not schwanky environment. It's all about the fish, as it should be.

Sushi absolutely delicious but you gotta make reservations before because it really so pack with people chef is friendly and entertaining
