Pure Thai Cookhouse - New York

The only drawback I have about this restaurant is the portion size. The dishes are noticeably smaller compared to other Thai restaurants in the area that charge the same prices. However, the flavors are excellent, offering a robust seafood umami—think fish sauce and shrimp paste. They use authentic Thai chilies and eggplant, which adds to the experience. The decor is quite unique, although the seating can feel a bit cramped.

The food is decent, but the portions are a bit on the small side. The waitstaff are friendly, but unfortunately, there was an issue with the billing, as they charged the wrong amounts and even requested extra tips.

Upon being seated, we were instructed to scan the menu to place our orders. So we selected dishes from what was available in the menu. Later, I discovered that there was a blackboard featuring the daily specials. When I inquired with my server about those options, he confirmed they were available. I expressed my disappointment, saying, “Oh, I didn’t realize that was an option, and I would have liked to choose from that.” However, he abruptly replied, “No, you cannot change. The food is already cooked.” I explained that I hadn’t been informed of the full menu, especially since I noticed other tables had access to the special menu. He simply repeated that no changes were allowed, without offering any apology.

Loved how nicely we were greeted and served . The food was authentic and loved the lychee cocktail. The place is quaint and not fancy but we loved it before a show. Will def return.

Still my most favourite Thai restaurant to pop in for a quick lunch or group dinner. Love the noodle bowls the best! They had daily specials at this time when we visited and it was beautifully cooked braised pork with spiced thin noodles with sauce. I also love the sugarcane ice cream! The staff is always attentive and friendly here ?
