Bidrage med feedbackVegan options were incredible. Service was good, went for a large group party of ten in a private room, the quality and vibe was good enough to justify the price.
The music bar is beautiful but horrid sounding ironic given the boutique fancy loudspeakers and featured Macintosh amplifier. Such a disappointment. Honestly, the space could sound great with some attention to acoustics. But they've chosen to put their money in interior design and wood look loudspeakers, rather than how things sound in the music bar. Another problem is cultural: in Japan, people are relatively quiet in a listening bar. In the US, people are uncomfortable with silence and thus can't help but try to outdo each other with jokes and loud talking, competing with the curated music. I was hoping for the Tokyo experience. Fail.
I went to this place accidentally many years ago. And now I went to check if it was still there. This place is so good. Gorgeous. Posh, yet unpretentious. Insane selection of Sake’s. A place to take your mom or girlfriend to get a proper experience. Gorgeous view of the West Village and great people working there. Huge thanks to Tomako for giving us a truly special experience.
Ridiculously expensive food and drinks. A shot of Japanese whisky was 40 and up. A tasty bowl of rice with a bit of salmon roe was $50. Cocktails were good but not enough alcohol. Cool, vibey atmosphere but that’s not enough. We won’t be going there again.
Great upscale Japanese restaurant with a diverse menu that is fit for anyone. The listening bar section of the restaurant is a bit more laid back and great place to dine; the DJ that came on at 10 had great taste in music. Overall food and service was excellent.Highlights: Miso black cod, Mochi Croquette (super different and interesting not a large portion, but very tasty), Butabara Renkon (part of the O Banzai), ikura and uni hand roll (very fresh, super delicious), mochi cookies (great to share, so soft and melts in your mouth nice pairing with ice cream), espresso martini with the nikka Coffey grain whisky was great.
