Bidrage med feedbackThe dining area was chilly. It took 40 minutes for our food to be served, and when it arrived, it was overly salty.
This restaurant is a cozy and inviting spot with delicious traditional dishes that are expertly prepared and thoroughly enjoyable. The wine list is not only good but also reasonably priced.
This is such a lovely place. While Spanish cuisine in restaurants remains available in the US, it is true that it has migrated largely to just tapas. And while tapas is great, there is still a place for traditional Spanish cooking. And Alcala is just the place to find it. We enjoyed a fabulous trio of fish in a prix fixe menu that was just outstanding in terms of flavor, proper cooking of the fish, presentation and generous serving size for a prix fixe. An appetizer of shrimp scampi in a classic green sauce was serving piping in a traditional baking dish, still bubbling from the oven. But the piece de resistance was the fabulous country style Cochinillo Asado: boy was that tender and oh so tasty, served on a bed of the most lovely perfectly cooked scalloped potatoes and beautifully decorated green beans and asparagus. The deserts are great, and the wines by the glass are also good quality Spanish wines served in decent pourings. Service could not have been more attentive. Lovely white table cloths and a quiet vibe. I can 't recommend this place highly enough and hope you will give it a try, especially if you enjoy traditional Spanish dining.
