The gumbo was great and the red beans and rice were the best red beans and rice I ever had, and I spent a lot of time in NOLA! I'm looking forward to coming back. If you are full, make sure to go a few cakes!
This is a jewel of the restaurant. This is the first time we were in New Ulm and went to Tin Lizzie's Cafe and Dessert's restaurant on the recommendation of friends. The family business was opened for 2 years and receives a broad base of regular guests. We ordered three different sandwiches each was very delicious). We also ordered three desserts my favourite was the bread pudding) The Chef Greg prepares everything from fresh ingredients. He is a trained pastry cook with most experiences in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, so believe me the desserts are fantastic. I must believe, based on what we ordered, everything on the menu is delicious. You are open 6 days a week and Sunday brunch once a month. You owe the experience of having great food in a wonderful environment.
Brought my family here on a Saturday, and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the place. It is in a beautiful area, the service and food was great, and the dessert was perfect blueberry bread pudding, which they serve warm with a light glaze. I believe one of the owners is a pastry chef, and from the taste of everything, probably has a history in fine dining. Yet, the atmosphere is relaxed and down to earth. I could tell that the customers are regulars, as the staff called them by name as they arrived. Very enjoyable experience, and we will certainly be back on weekends.
The kitchen is wonderfully prepared here. I had a delightful chicken avocado salad I found to have a tasteful balance of fresh vegetables with well thought-out seasonaling revealing themselves carefully within the chicken, all tied together beautifully with bright occasions of avocado. Nothing would be better than enjoying some of their sweet deserts with a small cup of espresso to their modest but refined menu. I will look for the espresso to be available on my next visit. The architecture is a refreshing repose from the typical Rhine valley. There is an open and clean modernity that deals with a Hill Country Special of the presentation. You have a small covered outdoor space that has the potential to be something wonderful, with a feeling that it is a hidden gem when only a playful privacy screen was placed at the toilet entrances. To sacrifice a little space would be a smart investment. Also switching the hinges of the terrace door to the other side would be nice, so that during the next visit I do not scratch my elbow on the wall. In all, I would like to encourage you to stop by and enjoy the aromas they offer and a bit in their contemplative space.
N.O. style roast beef Po'Boy was amazing and the meatballs are a must try!
