Lucky Dogs - New Orleans

After a long day of travel, I found myself on Bourbon Street at 11 PM craving some food. I thought a Lucky Dog from a street vendor would be a good choice, but I couldn't have been more mistaken. The vendor was friendly, and I have no complaints about that, but unfortunately, I became extremely ill afterward. I nearly ended up in the ER. It's been years since food has affected me that badly. I definitely do not recommend eating a Lucky Dog from the street vendors; it’s really not lucky at all.

As someone who grew up in New Orleans, I've been enjoying Lucky Dogs since the 1970s. Over the years, two things have noticeably changed: the price and the size. The price has become outrageous for a hot dog, and the size keeps increasing. All I really want is a hot dog, not something that resembles a hot log!

We have been dogs for years lol. I can say that they are a savior when its late and you need something for your stomach. Especially if you plan on continuing to party lol.

If you've had too much to drink, are running low on cash, and want some cheap food, these hot dogs aren't bad. They're not really good, but not bad. You'll find these carts at various street corners along Bourbon St. Just after sunset you'll start to see them here and there and they appear abandoned. After about 9pm, you'll start to see people buying hotdogs. As the night progresses, small lines will start to form. I haven't witnessed any of the horror stories I've seen in other reviews, but I don't doubt them either. You get what you pay for, so don't have high expectations.

I went to get two hot dogs for my friend and myself, but they were both cold, including the buns. When the staff asked if I wanted mustard or any other condiments, I said yes. However, he only put a tiny line of mustard on and told me to let him know when to stop. When I asked for a little more, he replied that it would cost an extra dollar. I was really put off by that. I ended up paying for the two disappointing hot dogs, and honestly, both the service and the food were disappointing. Definitely not a good experience.
