Felipe's Taqueria - New Orleans

My friend and I split a taco salad burrito and enjoyed margaritas for our drinks. The customizable meal options allowed us to create our own unique flavor combinations. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service at the counter was quick, but it could get crowded if a large group arrived at the same time, causing a long line, especially for those who are not quick at building their meals. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were reasonable.

Food excellent. Music a bit loud, so be mindful of that when going with friends. Salsa is ok. Chips are thick and crispy. Ordering process is convenient to walk up and generally prepared in front of you.

I have to be honest, we ate all the food before I remembered to take a photo, so most of my pictures are of the restaurant itself. We visited on Cinco de Mayo when they closed off part of the side street for additional outdoor seating. The tamales were absolutely delicious! We also tried a few different tacos, as well as rice and beans, all of which were excellent and highly recommended. The restaurant had a fun theme with "May the 4th be with you" Star Wars decorations, including flyers and stickers. The staff all wore t-shirts featuring Grogu holding a taco, which were also available for purchase at the bar.

This food is horrible. You get two tacos for $10 and they barely give you any meat. The queso cheese was super thick and nasty. This is the worst food I?ve had in New Orleans.

As residents of Phoenix, we have high standards for Mexican food. We decided to try out Felipe's for Tacos, burritos, and chips with salsa. We ordered the combo which included chips with salsa, guacamole, and queso, and it was delicious! My husband loved his carne tacos, but unfortunately, my burrito with refried beans and pork was disappointing. The tortilla was undercooked, and the juicy filling made it mushy and soggy. Despite this, we enjoyed the chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso so much that we returned two days later just for those items. The salsa had a perfect level of spiciness and the guacamole was fresh and flavorful.
