Beachbum Berry's Latitude 29

I cannot comment on the atmosphere since we did takeout, but I can say I do not understand the hype. The food was mediocre at best. I was excited to be able to do a take out beverage, as I was looking forward to trying something on their drink menu, but when I took a sip, all I could taste was alcohol. It was so packed with alcohol, I didn’t get any flavors in the drink, just burning alcohol. The whole experience was disappointing aside from the hostess who took our order. She was lovely and accommodating, and the food came quickly and piping hot. I just do not understand the rave reviews about the great food and drinks. It was a waste of money in my opinion. There are so many better options for food in this area.

I do not understand the hype of this place. We went when they first opened about 8 years ago and didn't think much of it. However, after reading all the fantastic reviews, we thought we would give it another shot. We made reservations and when we arrived, the hostess was pleasant enough. Our server was luke warm to us and not especially attentive. We sat up front so we could see all the people coming in and out. Each person that came in without a reservation was treated like a minion. The burger was not good at all. It had very little seasoning and the bun tasted old. The carrots were pretty good and the shoestring fries were tasty (but that is hard to mess up). We ordered 2 of the signature drinks and could barely drink them. They truly were gross. No one at the restaurant looked particularly happy so the atmosphere was pretty depressing. Maybe later at night, the atmosphere improves? I don't know.. with so many other outstanding places in the city, I wouldn't choose this one again.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant on April 19, 2023. Our server was fantastic, and the atmosphere was truly Tiki. The spam musubi was delicious, and the fries were equally tasty. The drinks were refreshing and enjoyable.

This is undoubtedly the best tiki bar in Louisiana and one of the finest in the United States, if not the world. I'm also a huge admirer of Beachbum Berry's books, articles, and tiki mugs. This place is a must-visit in New Orleans, whether you're a tiki bar aficionado or not. Food: 5/5.
