We ate there twice in four days liked it that much. The food was excellent, and we felt the price was good for a tourist area. Pasta marinara was very tasty, with two pieces of cheese bread included. The second time we had a sampler appetizer (hummus, spicy tomato spread, roasted red peppers feta with pita) which was excellent and a pizza VERY good pizza with lots of flavor. On Saturday night, they were really busy, and a couple of the wait staff were really irritated and down right rude to several customers. Personally, we sat at the bar and didn't cause any trouble for them. The second time, our waiter was much more polite. But hey, I go to a place for the food. We definitely would return in the future.
The artwork inside may put some people off, ignore it as the food is exceptional. We'd seen their menu online and thought the Pesto Pasta sounded good. It was delicious but was eclipsed by the Divine Portabella appetizer which really was divine. You won't want to leave one drop of the sauce. Our waiter had his own unique style but gave us the best service we've had in some time. On our second trip we got the Virtuous Angel pizza. Easily the best pizza we've ever tasted, bar none. All the flavors you love in perfect balance. You may not have come to New Orleans to eat a pizza but you have to try this one.
My husband and I frequent this restaurant. It never fails that we are the only ones there when we walk in. But monkey see, monkey do. There are always a few tables sat by the time we leave. Don't let the alternative styles of the wait staff or lackluster decor put you off. We have tried almost everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. The portions are huge. No matter what we order, there are always leftovers. The prices are very low for a restaurant on Decatur Street, and in the Quarter, for that matter. Their pasta salad is a must-try. Seasoned perfectly, I've never had better. If you like hummus, you have to try the veggie roll! Messy, but so good I took a knife and fork to it to finish it. Salad was very fresh and carefully prepared. The chicken was cut into perfect bite sized squares. Pizza that just melts in your mouth, with quality mozzarella. My only complaint is that, on two occasions, the soda tasted like the machine needed more syrup. They have a bar, which you can also eat at. It is one of the few I've found in the area that serves Rolling Rock beer. Liquor drinks are made strong, which is just what I like. Overall, a great, inexpensive, one of a kind experience.
The bride and her mom brought the bridesmaids here as sort of a special lunch so that we could do a bit of a meet and greet, hang out, and so that the bride could get her 'pizza fix. ' All that was fine with me because we all hit it off as soon as we met. My best friend, the bride, loves this place so we just left the ordering up to her. Service is slow but then again, that 's sort of the charm about Louisiana. You can 't be in a hurry and you have to be OK with that which I was because we weren 't really going anywhere. We started off with small salads that are anything but small so be forewarned. I was almost full from the salad itself and had to stop myself from eating anymore. Our pizzas were the virtuous angel a veggie pizza with goat cheese, spinach, mushroom, tomatoes and a pesto chicken. Both were amazing and tasted fresh. The crust is nice and buttery too. Mmm. This is a great spot in the French Quarter and a real treat.
